Under a Standard JCT Contract, we were instructed to construct a 2 storey extension to Woodside Primary School. The design included multiple new classrooms and a new IT suite. The extension was constructed using a steel frame, with Velux windows and large French doors looking out into school grounds.
Working in a live school environment poses many challenges, we mitigated any problems through early engagement with the client, weekly progress meetings, understanding the school’s changing needs and adhering to their requirements. We kept noisy works restricted to out of school hours where possible, and managed deliveries and site traffic to be restricted to outside of peak pick up and drop off times.
