Project Scope: Conversion of Bank with New Build 9 apartment

Contract Value: £1m

Project Duration: 60 weeks

As main contractor, we were instructed under Design and Build (D&B) contract to convert and transform an old NatWest bank into nine apartments, involving both extension and conversion. The solidly constructed 1800s building required extensive upgrades to meet modern EPC and insulation standards, doubling its original size in the process. With front and side elevations falling under conservation, careful attention was paid to maintaining the architectural integrity of the building and the facades, these areas were carefully protected during construction. A significant portal steel frame was installed, necessitating collaboration with adjacent properties and navigating through private gates on the high street. Challenges included unexpected insulation deficiencies and achieving consistent floor levels, requiring redesign and structural adjustments. A high standard of finish was achieved, with original features such as the original heavy front doors and Crittall windows refurbished and reutilised, showcasing our meticulous craftsmanship and preservation of heritage aesthetics.
