Laureldean

At Laureldean, we created a single-storey extension and communal outdoor space, integrating seamlessly into the existing care home, providing a new bistro dining room for residents. Despite the challenges, including completing the project just before lockdown, we managed to complete on time which was important not only for the client, but also to minimise disruptions for residents. To expedite the process, areas of the care home were temporarily closed, and access to gardens reduced. Logistics posed additional hurdles, with materials needing to be manually transported through the gardens due to sensitive site location constraints. Unforeseen drainage issues unfortunately incurred extra costs but didn't impede progress as we were quick to collaborate and manage the necessary extra design and labour to complete these extra works. Further to this, daily communication with the care home ensured the project aligned with their needs, maintaining sensitivity to the residents' environment and circumstances. The project significantly enhanced residents' well-being, providing improved garden access and social areas.
