We undertook this Design and Build (D&B) scheme involving the construction of four high-spec houses, comprising two detached and two semi-detached units, as a back land development behind existing properties. Sensitivity towards existing residents was paramount throughout the project, we ensured a smooth build process through engagement with the neighbouring residents, and considerate behaviour throughout, keeping noisy works to set agreed hours and managing deliveries and site traffic to jeep disruption to a minimum. This was a sloping site, and necessitated split-level housing designs, with features such as concrete floors, air source heat pumps (ASHPs), and pump drainage systems incorporated. Recessed patios were integrated into the design, which evolved gradually to address challenges such as the drainage and MEP needs. GPS Projects led the design process, working closely with an interior designer to ensure seamless integration of MEP, ceilings, and finishes. Basement waterproofing and tanking were also implemented due to the depth of excavation required on site.
